About the Role

We’ve got a lot of greenfield work ahead of us, so we’re hiring a senior backend engineer who is accustomed to building new features with very little oversight. We work on tight-knit teams and give our engineers lots of latitude to solve problems in new and interesting ways. Our team is filled with smart, collaborative, kind people who value growth and learning. We are flat by design. We avoid red-tape, move quickly and get things done. What You Will Do

• Develop features with exceptional quality

• Implement end-to-end backend features without oversight  

• Collaborate with product owners, QA, co-developers, and help other members of the engineering team as needed

• Understand features, tasks and provide details, assess and communicate risks

• Sample projects: 

  • Implement a backend crawler to automate the ingestion of content into search indices

  • Implement advanced search suggestion technologies

  • Implement AI-assisted search backends

What You Should Have 

• About 5-7+ years of experience developing commercial-grade applications (ideally, using Python, Django, and AWS)

• Experience operating in a team environment, working with product managers and QA teams

• Considerable expertise in Python, AWS, Mongo, MySQL, Python, Django

• Experience determining root-cause solutions for production issues 

• Demonstrated technical leadership experience

Pay Transparency

• Base Salary: The initial base salary for this role is estimated to range from $140,000 to $170,000.

• Salary Structure: Our salary ranges are determined by market analysis and are designed to evolve with job performance over time.

• Additional Benefits: Beyond base salaries, SearchStax employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, with potential for equity and performance-based bonuses.
