Lead Avionics Engineer
In this role, you will lead the team responsible for the design, analysis, and qualification of all avionics systems at Starpath, across all product lines. Systems include motion control, communications, compute, power management, and more. You will serve as the technical authority and be ultimately responsible for the successful delivery and integration of all avionics hardware.
Responsibilities:
Define and justify system architecture, interfaces, and requirements for all avionics systems
Determine qualification testing criteria in accordance with spaceflight testing standards
Enable the successful execution of all system and component level design, while providing technical guidance and mentorship where necessary
Work cross-functionally with software and mechanical teams to meet integration timelines and system milestones
Manage all technical, operational, and programmatic risks associated with the avionics team
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
5+ years of experience developing avionics systems for space applications
Experience with Altium or equivalent EDA tools
Familiarity with communication protocols, instrumentation/sensors, and power electronics
Strong technical communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
10+ years of experience developing avionics systems for space applications
Track record of owning spaceflight hardware across the entire product lifecycle (design, analysis, qualification, and operation)
Strong understanding of radiation induced failure modes and effects
Prior experience conducting environmental test campaigns (thermal, shock/vibe, etc)
Position Details:
Location: Los Angeles (Hawthorne), CA
Salary base rate is $150-$200k/yr, plus equity package; compensation scales with candidate experience
