General Notes

This is a full-time position to serve as a key team member in the Ambulatory Surgery Center at UT Health Austin. This position is responsible for the success of the surgical clinical enterprise’s financial and unit-level performance, while supporting the oversight and development of the annual budget planning process through reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the center’s daily business operations including daily management of financial transactions.

  • Assist with the development of annual operating budget, providing guidance and support to all departmental personnel.

  • Monitor budget to actual results and prepare variance explanation to explain derivations from the budget. Assist with planning, forecasting, and financial reporting utilizing information provided through regular budget monitoring.

  • Collaborate with Dell Medical School Finance & Revenue Cycle team to manage accounts payable, receivable and month-end tasks.

  • Work with UT Health Austin Medical Staff Office and Administrative Director on credentialing, policies and procedures. Liaison with physician office staff and schedulers.

  • Conduct monthly meetings with ASC Leadership to review business office policy and procedure changes, financial metrics health, and front-office patient issues.

  • Ensure correct billing procedures are followed for facility and provider fees.

  • Assist with documenting and monitoring internal controls ensuring alignment with fiscal policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, UT System and university regulations and policy.

  • Manage departmental Front Office positions (i.e. Surgery Scheduling), providing oversight, training, resources, development and direction in the fulfillment of their responsibilities.

  • Attend key meetings and facilitate monthly staff meetings in conjunction with the Administrative Director.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of related experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting demonstrating increasing responsibility, including one year of supervisory experience. Thorough understanding of managed care contracts, facility coding, surgery scheduling, insurance verification, and ASC revenue cycle management. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytic, project management and presentation skills, as well as demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing financial and capital planning. Strong organizational skills, a flexible work style and able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or related field. Certified coder. Experience with University of Texas or other public procurement finance systems and processes.

Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications
