Position Overview

The position of a Jr. Buyer is a key resource within the company for facilitating the effective ordering of products and services and for ensuring that commitments/business needs are met. The Jr. Buyer supports a variety of employees to clarify needs, evaluate and/or determine suppliers, generate/place orders and manage ongoing supplier interactions within our operational footprint. The Jr. Buyer will enable the Procurement best practices, like using CRH preferred vendors, ensure the Purchase Orders are correct, compare vendors and propose the best option to end-users, among others. As part of the procurement team, the Jr. Buyer will pursue added value initiatives that will generate savings to Pennsy Supply.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate the process of obtaining quotes and / or bids from potential suppliers, when necessary.
• Research order history of similar products and services purchased to evaluate differences in costs, delivery, quality, and performance. This would include providing estimates based on knowledge of current market conditions or previous orders.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates Purchase Order / contracts within scope of authority.
• Understand the local supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, delivery, use, service, and disposal) related to the products and services being purchased.
• Prepare purchase orders/facilitate approval within the P2P system with accurate information to capture the business requirements.
• Work with suppliers and Sourcing to ensure that accurate product / service information is being communicated on orders including pricing, availability, part numbers and delivery.
• Build up and maintain relationship with vendors of assigned sites. Ensure that suppliers’ commitments are met and identify opportunities for improvements. This would include improving the quality and / or performance of products and services.
• Assist field personnel and Sourcing to perform tests and demonstrations of products/services to evaluate value, compare results and /or identify alternatives.
• Provide, and encourage feedback regarding supplier performance through participation in vendors’ surveys and the use of CRH supplier performance tracking system.
• Arrange for the proper transportation of the purchased products if needed, and not otherwise determined.
• Expedite and assist with the troubleshooting of orders as needed.
• Records reliable and transparent personal benefit contributions within company software systems.
• Drives adoption of sourced programs with stakeholders as directed by CRH to maximize value to the company.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to review spend, projects, vendors and savings opportunities. Recommend P2P best practices, monitor agreements, and share outcomes with the Procurement team.

Education/Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, administration or alike disciplines.
• 2+ years of experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.
