Job Title: Senior Process Engineer – Capital Front-End & Detailed Engineering for New Manufacturing Systems

Summary

The Process Engineer – Capital Projects plays a critical role in this growth by serving as the technical owner of new processing systems from conceptual design through startup, commissioning, validation, and final handoff to Operations.
This role bridges process engineering, project engineering, and plant operations—ensuring that new systems are designed, specified, and executed to meet Chobani’s requirements for safety, food quality, performance, and long-term reliability. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with area process engineers, project managers, external engineering partners, OEMs, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate operational needs into robust engineering designs.
This is a hands-on, highly technical, and deeply cross-functional role responsible for defining process requirements, developing front-end and detailed engineering solutions, reviewing design packages, supporting procurement, leading FAT/SAT activities, and ensuring new assets are delivered ready for safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
Responsibilities
· Lead the development and execution of capital projects across the plant, from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with operational goals, and timelines.
· Provide technical leadership in the design, specification, and integration of dairy processing systems.
· Conduct or oversee feasibility analyses, cost estimates, process simulations, and risk assessments to support strategic project decisions.
· Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of process designs, specifications, and project progress during a project lifecycle
· Develop process scopes of work to define new project ideas and support other manufacturing site leaders with project funding requests.
· Prepare conceptual engineering designs and specify necessary process equipment
· Work closely with the CAD team to update and modify various drawings, including P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams.
· Oversee engineering consultants, OEMs, contractors, and system integrators. Ensure technical compliance, quality assurance, and timely delivery of engineering packages and installations.
· Ensure all capital projects meet food safety (e.g., FSMA), environmental, and regulatory requirements, including hygienic design, zoning, and material compatibility.
· Lead or support commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) activities, ensuring new systems are installed, tested, and documented per GMP and internal quality standards.
· Provide input on design for process improvements concurrently to other process engineers.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Occasional travel required to equipment vendors and other Chobani sites.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred, other engineering degrees considered
· 7-10 years of experience in a F&B process engineering role, preferably in Dairy
· Experience in dairy, beverage and/or aseptic processing equipment
· Working knowledge of project life cycle deliverables, contract & schedule
· May be required to work in a site environment in the presence of heavy equipment, smoke, dust and noise
· Proficient with Microsoft Office software, AutoCAD
