Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Houston, TX Office.

SCOPE:

The Senior Process Engineer will support growth of the carbon is accountable for performing functions to plan, execute and research processes for various engineered systems and in support of the carbon capture business within ESD as well as assessing current equipment and processes, and implementing corrective actions as needed. Additionally, the Sr. Process Engineer will serve as technical expert (SME) providing direct support to customers and plant operations.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years related experience including EPC experience or design and operation of gas treatment experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead preparation of process engineering calculations and documents including process optimization and value awareness
  • Assign, verify, develop process flow diagrams and heat & material balances
  • Lead the process of defining utility conditions and consumption
  • Lead safety review and confirm Safety Narratives ensuring follow-up is completed as necessary
  • Assign, review and develop process, utility, and auxiliary P&IDs, environmental, waste and emission summaries
  • Lead technical discussions / meetings with owners and partners including operator and staff training
  • Assign / prepare operations manual and training materials for internal & external reference as necessary
  • Complete commissioning and start-up supervision
  • Provide ongoing operational support and assistance including but not limited to documentation and development of lessons learned and recommendations for improvement
  • Support business development needs and priorities
  • Attend conferences, prepare / present technical presentations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

 

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of related experience.  Commissioning experience and/or chemical plant operation experience desired.
  • Any special skills/training/certifications:
    • Excellent communication skills suited to the audience; the ability to convey ideas in written form and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Experience preparing H&MB, PFD, P&ID, Equipment Sizing, etc. (specifically for chemical plant or gas treatment facility)
    • Operation or Operational supervisor experience (chemical plant, gas treatment, O&G)
    • Lead design engineer for FEED project experience
    • Experience with schedule control and/or feasibility study management.
    • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications & comfortable using other software as required.
    • Experience with process simulation software is required (ASPEN, Proll, ProMax, etc.)
    • Ability to attend after hour calls (5 p.m. – 7 p.m.) as necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Travel: 30% business travel
  • Weekend/late night work if applicable: Occasionally. 
  • Intermittent offsite project assignments
