Accounting Manager

Key Deliverables
- Lead and manage all general accounting functions: service billing, job costing, WIP tracking, AP, AR/collections, payroll, and benefits
- Assist in completing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
- Ensure internal controls, process compliance, and policy adherence across all accounting functions
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee job costing and WIP accounting, including AIA and T&M billing for service and project work
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice entry, weekly check runs, reconciliations, and year-end 1099 processing
- Handle accounts receivable, collections, cash application, deposits, and bank reconciliation
- Process bi-weekly payroll, onboard new hires, and manage benefit-related transactions
- Monitor insurance policies (GL/PL, auto, workers comp), ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate premium accounting
- Maintain ownership of all balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, depreciation, prepaids, ROU assets/liabilities, accruals, and equity
- Collaborate with operations and senior leadership to analyze performance and support strategic decision-making
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of construction, MEP, or service-based accounting experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong experience with technical accounting, billing systems, AP, AR, payroll, and benefits
- Demonstrated success with systems implementation or ERP migration
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, macros)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or similar construction ERP software
- Public accounting background a plus
- CPA designation preferred
- Experience supporting energy service, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or facilities service organizations
