A Day in the Life
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Supervisor with an Engineering background to lead operations for special projects. This role is critical to supporting the scaling and ramping of a high priority production area, and ensuring consistent, reliable output across shifts.This is a floating position. This supervisor will work across assembly, testing, and packaging. The schedule will float across 1st and 2nd shift, to be determined in collaboration with the Sr. Manufacturing Manager, depending on business needs and current projects.
This position will be posted internally for 7 days. If needed, it may be extended for longer or opened up to external candidates.
Schedule:
- The candidate for this position must be available to work both 1st shift and 2nd shift.
- The schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Sr. Manufacturing Manager, depending on business needs and current projects.
- Hours will be Monday - Friday, and fall between 6 am and 10:30 pm., depending on current needs.
Compensation Structure:
- This is a salaried, exempt position, which means that overtime and shift differentials do not apply.
- Position is eligible for an MIP bonus targeted at 7.5%
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Affera Manufacturing team, alongside the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift supervisors.
- Collaborate closely with the training, assembly, testing and packaging teams to ensure alignment and operational efficiency.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Support workforce planning and development, including onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and output.
- Oversee floating responsibilities such as testing, packaging, and projects that don't neatly fall into a specific category such as assembly or testing.
- Provide coverage for 1st or 2nd shift supervisors during PTO and leaves of absence.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
- Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
Minimum Qualifications (Must Have! To be considered for this role, please make sure they are on your resume!):
- Minimum of 3+ years relevant work experience
- Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
- Availability to work 1st or 2nd shift hours dictated by current projects and priorities
- Be eligible for internal transfer (Per Medtronic policy, you must be in your current role for a minimum of one year to be eligible)
Preferred Qualifications (Candidates with these will be prioritized; please make sure they are on your resume if you have them!)
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing training, team leadership, or supervision, preferably at the Billerica Medtronic site, an FDA regulated environment, or electronics manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge of QMS
- Experience with NCMR investigations
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-shift teams.
- Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
- Functional Skills: Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement, Managing Quality.
