About the role

Overview:  The Technician within the library will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for various hardware and software systems. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can prioritize tasks effectively while working independently. The technician will troubleshoot and repair computers and peripherals, manage hardware inventory, maintain licensing records, and update calls within the library's ticketing system.  It is a temporary position, schedule days of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities

· Technical Support: Provide timely and efficient technical support for library hardware, including desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, printers, and other peripherals.

· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems, documenting solutions and procedures in the ticketing system.

· Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and peripherals to ensure optimal performance.

· Inventory Management: Gather and maintain accurate information regarding hardware inventory and licensing records.

· Patron Assistance: Offer technical support for patron computers, assisting with configuration and usage inquiries.

· Recordkeeping: Organize and maintain records of hardware and software licenses, ensuring compliance with library policies.

· Professional Interaction: Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with administrators, staff members, and community patrons.

· Policy Adherence: Follow library policies and procedures, particularly those related to data privacy and security.

· Additional Duties: Perform other duties as directed by senior library administrators or CCS.

Qualifications

· Education: Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

· Experience: Previous experience in a technical support role, preferably in a library or educational environment.

· Skills:

·       Proficiency in ticketing systems and troubleshooting techniques.

·       Strong knowledge of hardware and software installation and maintenance.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

·       Familiarity with data privacy and security protocols.

Working Conditions

· This position requires the ability to work independently in a public library setting.

· May involve occasional lifting of equipment and materials.

• Requires transportation to move between buildings.
