Job Summary:
The Director of Litigation & Employment will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Company’s litigation, as well as working closely with our People team to manage a range of employment law matters. Reporting to the VP of Legal Affairs, this role is crucial in ensuring the Company’s legal interests are protected while fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture. The ideal candidate will possess a robust litigation background and significant experience in employment law, ideally within tech or other high-growth/fast-paced industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management:
- Develop and implement litigation strategies in collaboration with external legal counsel and the legal team of our parent company, Fanatics Holdings, Inc.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation disputes, lawsuits, and arbitration.
- Evaluate and mitigate legal risks associated with current and potential litigation.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Employment Law Oversight:
- Advise on and handle employment-related legal matters, including but not limited to employee disputes, terminations, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and legal claims, ensuring fair and thorough resolution.
- Work with the People team to ensure compliance with employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, workplace safety, and anti-discrimination laws.
- Strategic Counsel:
- Provide proactive legal advice to senior management on litigation and employment-related issues.
- Keep abreast of legal developments and industry trends to anticipate potential legal challenges and opportunities.
- Understand the nuances of the regulated nature of the gaming industry and provide counsel based on that knowledge
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in litigation with a meaningful focus on employment law.
- Experience in the tech industry highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of both state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and work with external counsel effectively.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work well under pressure.
