Looking for a Discipline Operations Manager II (Mechanical)
The Discipline Operations Manager II is responsible for the management, growth and development of a specific sub-group within the engineering discipline while providing technical direction. Responsible for staff management, production scheduling, training, and ensuring technical excellence within a large, senior team in the discipline-specific sub-group. This role provides high-level technical direction and drives alignment with broader firm-wide initiatives. Actively involved in influencing innovation and maintaining high standards by working with EPIC. Ensures all engineering products, initiatives, and processes align with the organization’s established policies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partners with the other Discipline Operations Managers and Discipline Operations Director to
manage crucial tasks such as weekly hours and staff allocation. - Takes the lead in guiding, directing, and mentoring sub-group members, offering them valuable
support throughout their roles. - Manage the performance of all assigned team members by cultivating a culture of growth and
accountability within the team - Provide constructive feedback and mentorship, guided by the Discipline Operations Director, to
foster professional development and ensure optimal performance. - Collaborate with other Discipline Operations Managers and project managers to ensure
adequate staffing and skill levels within the project team. - Assures that design engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client
requirements, and corporate objectives - Responsible for technical quality performed by the sub-group, overseeing the technical staff’s
implementation of project QA/QC plans developed by Project Managers and discipline leads - Evaluates and addresses atypical or intricate design issues, offering expert guidance and
solutions to ensure successful resolution - Coordinates with the Technical Discipline Leader to identify and implement process
improvements and additional standards for team dissemination, while ensuring discipline specific initiatives are effectively owned and executed - Creates and supports an environment of collaboration and engagement within the sub-group
and within the program - Coordinates with the Discipline Operations Director to set clear expectations and establish
streamlined processes aimed at maintaining effective inter-discipline coordination and
communication - Addresses and resolves conflicts or disputes arising within the discipline team or across
departments, focusing on process enhancement to mitigate future occurrences and promote
smoother workflows. - Develop and execute employee development plans by setting individual goals and providing the
necessary support for achievement through the performance management process. - Partners with the Discipline Operations Director to align with overall discipline strategies, taking
ownership of implementation and ensuring seamless integration across the team. - Leads the development and delivery of technical training within the discipline, partnering with
the Technical Discipline Leader (TDL) to ensure continuous growth and expertise across the
team. Drives the execution of internal training programs, ensuring a culture of technical
