Executive  Mechanic

(Based at Unichela – Panadura)

Embark on a journey of change with MAS, by joining MAS Unichela as an Executive  Mechanic based at Panadura to co-ordinate the mechanical aspects of machine set up, maintenance and repair so as to ensure that all machines in the sample production lines are functioning efficiently in order to meet daily targets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate effectively with the team to identify requirements such as machine set up, re-setting, repair etc. and allocate best resources to carry out the job to minimize downtime.

  • Attend meetings to obtain confirmation regarding availability of all requirements such as attachments, spares etc. to meet various sewing operations pertaining to styles planned for sample production. 

  • Ensure that all issues pertaining to machine layout etc. are effectively resolved and process streamlined to improve workflow.

  • Prepare a machine service schedule and ensure that all machines are serviced every six months and a comprehensive service is carried out once each year.

  • Analyze the nature and frequency of breakdowns and proceed with required follow up corrective action to eliminate the requirement for repeated repair.

  • Conduct in-house training for mechanics after accurate identification of training requirements to enhance their skills and ensure maintenance of adequate inventory of tools and equipment required by the mechanics.

  • Maintaining spare part cost, machine rent cost, method improvement cost and machine inventory and folder inventories to ensure effective and efficient resource utilization.

     

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and process engineering, Engineering technology.

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role or capacity with a sound understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities and meeting critical path timelines.

  • Excellent communication and analytical capabilities with strong critical thinking, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills; enabling effective decision-making and the successful delivery of business objectives.
