Quality Assurance Technician I is an entry-level role focused on performing defined quality assurance tasks with remote supervisory support and clear procedural guidance. While working independently on the production floor, the technician ensures compliance with cGMP, GDP, and safety standards by executing routine activities such as sampling, equipment verification, and real-time batch record documentation. This position emphasizes presence on the floor to monitor operations, maintain accurate records, and support process integrity. Success requires reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to learning core QA practices while escalating issues promptly to supervisors. This individual will be fully cross trained in all Quality Control activities and require remote supervision to execute those activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to monitor operations and support quality compliance.
- Execute defined QA tasks such as sampling, equipment verification, and sanitation checks with remote supervisory guidance.
- Perform real-time batch record reviews to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with GDP.
- Assist in cleaning validations and line clearance using approved methods (e.g., ATP technologies).
- Support audits and inspections by ensuring adherence to GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Record and evaluate test data promptly; escalate deviations to QA leadership.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to uphold sanitation and pest control programs.
- Participate in SOP and work instruction reviews and training sessions.
- Maintain inventory of QA consumables and ensure readiness for production needs.
- Follow all company GMPs, SOPs, and safety protocols.
- Ensure facility and products meet all local and federal food/supplement safety regulations
- Act as a facilitator/coach in areas such as Quality Control techniques, Good Manufacturing Practices, and product quality/safety
- Sample and analyze raw materials, in process goods, and finished products to assure compliance to specifications
- Work flexible hours to accommodate manufacturing, including nights and weekends.
- Assist in cleaning validations and line clearance using, but not limited to, ATP technologies
- Assist in data collection and analysis for ongoing quality improvements
- Partner with plant operations, maintenance, quality and engineering to provide input in the developing, writing and reviewing of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies, Work Instructions, and Forms.
- Partner with operations team to build a strong food safety culture, to ensure pre-requisite programs are effective for producing a safe food/supplement product and to facilitate the successful execution of customer, regulatory, and certification audits
- Perform document control activities including, but not limited, issuing, reviewing and approving batch records and work instructions, ensuring logs and records are appropriately completed and maintained, reviewing and approving shipping documentation, and filing and maintaining all records as required
- Review and approve lab analysis reports for the approval of raw materials, in process products, and finished goods
- Other duties as assigned
- Be consistently present on the production floor to reinforce quality and safety culture.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace.
- Demonstrate adaptability and commitment to learning QA processes and standards.
- Support production goals through accurate documentation and timely task execution.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and escalate issues promptly.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support production goals.
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience:
Required:
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, with the ability to learn and assist in writing and revising standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Preferred two years as a quality inspector or technician in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in an FDA regulated environment
- Experience in Federal and State Food Safety Regulations including HACCP and cGMP
- Experience with food safety and defense programs
