BESIX is looking for an experienced Compliance Officer to work in an international and challenging context. Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Monitor upcoming legislation, at Belgian, EU and international level in the below mentioned fields:
  • Anti-bribery & corruption (lead)
  • Anti-money laundering (lead)
  • Anti-cartel (lead)
  • Corporate sustainability due diligence (support)
  • Corporate sustainability reporting (support)
  • Cyber-security (support)
  • Data protection (lead)
  • …
• Design, implement and oversee compliance plans (i.e. policies, rules, procedures):
  • Drafting and implementing written policies, rules, and procedures
  • Conducting effective training and education
  • Developing effective lines of communication (hotline)
  • Conducting/supporting internal monitoring and auditing (internal audits; compliance inspections; peer reviews; external audits, reviews and inspections)
  • Enforcing standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines
  • Responding promptly to detected problems and undertaking corrective action
• Liaise and interact with relevant support functions and operations to that effect

Functie-eisen

• University degree in law, business administration, engineering, ... with an outstanding academic track record; any additional degree is a plus;
• 10+ years of relevant and demonstrated hands-on experience in setting-up and/or running a compliance department in an international context; experience in construction and/or project development is a plus;
• Fluent in English, Dutch and/or French; any other language is a plus;
• Able and willing to combine a “business enabler” role with an outspoken intellectual independence, with a view to promote a sound, sustainable and legally compliant framework for Besix Group’s operations;
• Legal acumen; strong analytical skills; rigorous, methodical, attention to detail;
• Able to make decisions or judgment calls even when working with ambiguous or conflicting data;
• Outstanding communication, drafting and negotiation skills;
• Organizational talent; capacity to drive change by enthusing teams and aligning them on a shared purpose and objectives;
• Team builder and player, driven by collective results rather than individual achievements;
• Strong interpersonal skills; capacity to build networks and capitalize on them;
• Has the personal stature and capability to influence key decision makers;
• Able to maintain high levels of focused drive and energy, giving above what is required to get the job done – takes personal accountability for success;
• Eager and able to work in very different cultural environments, including in far-off locations;
