Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing all aspects of cellular therapy collections on both adult and pediatric population as per NYBCe standard operating procedures and policies.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients eligible for cellular therapy collection, including health history and physical exam.
- Manages, trains, mentors, and develops training for assigned staff.
- Assists in development and revision of SOPs.
- Maintains quality patient care and services to the community through implementation of staff training program, standards of care, process improvement plans and excellent customer service.
- Assists to achieve the financial objective of the department through annual budget and cost analysis preparation.
- Works in conjunction with medical staff to review all patient treatments and recommended treatment plans.
- Performs all cellular therapy collection procedures independently by identifying required criteria based on the collection protocol indicated, obtaining consent, reviewing regulatory documents, performing patient physical assessment and documentation.
- Will participate during investigations of deviations and customer complaints.
- Provides care and follow-up instructions related to access and reports any abnormal findings to appropriate personnel.
- Administers medications during procedures per physician’s orders, and/or NYBCe SOPs. .
- Performs pre/post procedure physical assessment, blood draws and reports abnormal findings to appropriate physician as applicable.
- Performs assessment and intervention in response to adverse reactions/events and emergencies related to procedure.
- Completes all required forms/ electronic record.
- Operates equipment related to performing procedures and troubleshoot alarms and reports abnormal findings.
- Performs quality control of all equipment used.
- Provides education to patients, and family as it relates to cellular therapy, specific procedures and disease entities.
- Maintains inventory of collection sites, reports supply needs and assists with on-site par levels.
- Read and understand company and department specific SOP’s
- Participate in the onboarding and implementation of clinical studies.
- Participate in client specific trainings.
- Assist in timekeeping process, monthly expense reports as per departmental policy.
- Manage patient/donor schedules in conjunction with the cell sourcing, cell therapy lab and scheduling team.
- Delegates daily RN assignments and responsibilities.
Makes recommendations to improve business unit operations.
Add competencies and completing collections• Provides technical expertise and consultation to NYBC internal teams.
Participates in continuing education, contributes to medical literature in apheresis, attends relevant meetings.
Perform procedures for clinical trials or other investigational studies.
Any related duties as assigned.
Works on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing plus three year of clinical experience in medical/surgery, emergency or telemetry required.
Experience:
- 4-5 years of experience in nursing with at least three years in a critical care capacity, supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
Licenses / Certifications:
- RN Licensure in one of the states of operation upon hire (NY or NJ) and the ability to apply for multistate license within six months of hire date
- Valid Driver’s License.
- BCLS Certification.
