The anticipated salary range for this role is between $174,000.00 and $226,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The ETL Team Lead is responsible for oversight and daily management of both cross-functional and internal projects that involve designing and building enterprise data assets (including data warehouses and data marts) for the bank as well as operational discipline for execution.

This individual will oversee the IT team responsible for Design & Development of Data Integration Services (ETL) supporting difference components of SMBC Data Warehouse. The Business stakeholders include the Information Control Department (Chief Data Officer), Finance Controllers and Risk Management as well as other internal customers. The preferred candidate will demonstrate passion and expertise for leading strategic initiatives to standardize data and enable business analytic capabilities (including but not limited to required Risk & Regulatory Reporting for the Bank) as well as day-to-day operational execution responsibilities. As a Senior level contributor, must demonstrate strong communication and relationship building competencies. Strong Program and project management skills also a key skill requirement. The position currently has 4 direct reports.

The ETL Team Lead reports to the Director of Data Management Design and Development within the Corporate Systems department.

Role Objectives

  • Reviews all system development project requests and coordinates related team activities; meets with business stakeholders and other technical teams to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Provides technical and thought leadership around the enterprise data warehouse, data architecture and integration, and can guide the team in terms of exploring new and emerging data stores.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans and strategic objectives for the data management department in an effective and innovative fashion.
  • Apply strong Program/ Project Management skills turn the strategic vision into an actional project and drive the project to conclusion.
  • Provides high level technical support to IT partners troubleshooting and providing fixes where required.
  • Provides written reports to management regarding project status, tasks, and issues/risks.
  • Participates in build related activity discussions, environment setup implementation schedule/changes promoted in the test environment.
  • Actively participates in planning sessions and meetings, interfaces regularly with senior level counter parts across multiple business units.
  • Maintains effective relationships with vendors and suppliers; resolves issues and maintains ongoing communication.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, testing and documentation of Technology Recovery Plans to support continuity objectives as defined by business and service managers.
  • Partners with CDO/CDA to create plan and executes the strategic Data Roadmap for the Bank. This includes standards and governance requirements for managing the environment in a strategic and consistent fashion.
