The Small Business UW Analyst will support our small business growth and profitability goals in a fast paced environment with a team by underwriting Two & Done (T&D) new business with a focus on exceptional service to our agency partners. This individual will also effectively manage incoming submissions from the assigned region through the Underwriting Workstation (UWWS) and/or telephony system. These submissions include business that our agency partners are unable to quote due to edits in our small business platform. Provide efficient customer service to agents via email, phone or chat. The focus of this role is to provide exceptional and timely underwriting responses to our agency partners for small new business submissions.
- Work within authority to review, quote, and issue T&D eligible new business submissions to support our small business growth goals while maintaining profitability.
- With a high degree of professionalism, respond to agent inquiries as quickly as possible. Efficiently utilize desktop tools, email, and chat functions to quickly clear simple and/or complex edits from the system.
- Determine appropriate solution for the agent and take necessary measure to obtain information needed to resolve inquiries/transactions as quickly as possible including rating coverages or providing multiple quote revisions.
- Reinforce the ease of doing business with Selective by meeting or exceeding agent expectations and service quality on a consistent basis via phone, email, or chat.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across the regions. Work in unison with the regional small business teams to provide a seamless experience for our agency partners.
- Effectively manage a case list in UWWS to ensure new submissions are resolved within a timely manner and that open quotes are handled efficiently to bind new business accounts.
- Effectively use training resources, automation tools such as UWWS, and computer systems
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Demonstrate proficiency in using desktop tools, including automated underwriting, email, and chat functions.
- Ability to effectively communicate with agents while applying the appropriate sense of urgency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Position requires that you are computer savvy and can email, use an office phone, and the internet.
- Must have basic business office knowledge (etiquette, team player, solution focused, time management skills).
- College degree preferred.
- 2 + years commercial lines underwriting experience preferred.
- 2+ years automation experience preferred.
- Completion of INS 21, 22, 23 preferred.
Salary Range: $47,000-$67,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include the candidate's qualifications and experience.
