Position Overview
Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for a Quality Control Technician to work in our Quarries, Asphalt Plants and on our Paving jobs. The hours and location for this position are variable with weekend and night work required as needed. As a Quality Control Technician, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with their co-workers and managers. All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc.to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes. The Quality Control Technician will report directly to the Assistant Quality Control Supervisors and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the quality control team.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Safely and efficiently work in a quality control capacity and report any problems to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for collecting, measuring, and testing of materials for construction projects including hot mix asphalt, soils sampling, aggregate sampling, core sampling, density testing, laboratory testing and mix design.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE)in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Report to work at the designated start time and stay through the end of shift.
- Be able to work overtime when required.
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold and occasionally at heights.
- Strictly adhering to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma / GED equivalent.
- New England Transportation Technician Certification in HMA field/plant is desirable.
- 1 year experience in quality control testing desired but not required.
