Salary and Benefits

PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $156,000 per year to $162,000 per year.

This position is a Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position in the CSU, and serves at the pleasure of the President.

The CSU enjoys a generous benefits program with employer paid life insurance ($100,000), as well as health, dental, and vision insurance with the monthly premium largely paid by the CSU. This position may be eligible to participate in the Cal State East Bay hybrid telecommute program subject to management approval.

The Division of University Advancement builds a compelling case for choice and support of CSUEB among all of its constituents by communicating and advocating for the University’s distinctive regional position, role and contributions, thus forging relationships and securing commitments required to advance the institution’s mission and priorities.  Its programs are designed to increase the level of private giving to the university, strengthen existing ties with local and regional constituents, and develop new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships with individuals and organizations. The University’s development structure is centralized and includes dedicated, accomplished personnel, working together in a cohesive, collegial, and fast-paced environment.  UA departments are organized along the following functional lines:  University Communications & Marketing, Annual Giving & Alumni Engagement, Development, Analytics & Advancement Services, University Events and Operations.

The Sr. Director of Major Gifts is responsible for the realization of the University’s significant private support potential through the successful implementation of the major gifts fundraising and corporate and foundation relations and other fundraising activities as assigned. As a key member of the University Advancement leadership team, the Sr. Director will report directly to the Vice President, University Advancement and will work with the President, the Provost and Deans, the Cal State East Bay Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, other volunteers and development staff to identify, cultivate and solicit individual major and principal gift donors and corporate and foundation donor gifts in support of initiatives and priorities.  Working in conjunction with the Vice President, the Sr. Director will be responsible for establishing metrics for success, managing a portfolio of prospects and donors capable of making major gifts to the institution, and creating a cohesive, collaborative and strategic major gifts fundraising team.

The Sr. Director will have management and supervision responsibilities for development staff within University Advancement.  This is a position in the CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President.
