Job Description

This is a hybrid role based in New York, NY.

The LinkedIn Learning Solutions Content Team is looking for a Senior Instructional Visual Designer to join our post-production Graphics team. In this senior designer role, you will create high-quality graphics and animations to support and clarify the instruction of our online video courses. Working under the direction of an Associate Creative Director, you will collaborate with colleagues both inside and outside the company; work with vendors to support consistent production of course graphics; partner on innovation projects and workflows; and mentor other designers across the globe.  

Responsibilities 

  • Create course thumbnails and learning path images that adhere to the thumbnail style and system guidelines
  • Illustrate graphic elements including people, icons, and objects using Adobe Illustrator
  • Mask, retouch and color correct photos using Adobe Photoshop
  • Review thumbnail brief and course videos to inform thumbnail concepts
  • Effectively communicate with the Associate Creative Director, Producers, Content Managers and other Designers to design thumbnails that meet the target message for each course
  • Sketch engaging thumbnail concepts and ideas for thumbnails using a digital tablet
  • Effectively uses typography to design titled-thumbnail layouts
  • Manipulate and use existing graphic elements via Adobe Creative Cloud Libraries
  • Resize graphics to fit multiple platforms
  • Manage priorities and workload effectively to meet all predetermined workflow schedules and deadlines
  • Archive and file thumbnails in appropriate folders for cross-department workflow
  • Use production-tracking tools to track the progress of thumbnail development and accurately log hours across multiple projects
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, tight deadline, highly productivity environment, with a sense of urgency
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Application Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years in a professional work environment doing graphic design
  • 4+ years of experience working with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop using Mac OS
  • Must have a design portfolio that exhibits layout and illustrative skills, with examples of vector artwork focused on character creation or people.

Preferred Qualifications  

  • 4+ years designing thumbnail artwork for online entertainment or educational content
  • Comfortable illustrating using 2D, multi-point, and isometric perspectives a plus
  • Experience coordinating and/or directing photoshoots a plus
  • Ability to interpret complex ideas, both written and oral, into simplified visual graphics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and professionally interact within a team environment
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing of work, and following assignments through to completion autonomously
  • Good written/oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with project management software
  • Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change
  • Experience working in a production environment with high-volume output
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to always improve skills, who can work independently with limited supervision
