Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$64,500 - $167,200

Sr. Principal Engineer will be responsible for oversight of the facility infrastructure, ensuring the site remains in a state of compliance with all regulatory bodies.

Plant Engineering at Lilly Kenosha County is responsible for maintaining the site’s facility infrastructure including buildings, HVAC, GMP utilities, steam, water, sewer and other utility systems to a state of compliance.  It must assure that facilities and related infrastructure are fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability techniques are efficient and effective, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary.  Plant Engineering is also responsible for the efficient and effective management of local capital for their assets and oversight of engineering/maintenance contract resources. 

The Plant Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining the reliable operation and qualified state of the equipment and business processes in the areas they support.  This includes HVAC, Utilities, and ancillary systems associated within their facilities.  The Plant Engineer ensures that equipment is in-control, compliant, and capable of meeting customer needs, while also driving associated continuous improvement initiatives. 

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve the safety culture.

  • Understand HVAC applications in aseptic manufacturing, Utilities and GMP Utilities (WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, etc.).

  • Subject matter expert on facility programs including pest management, fire safety, and fit and finish for the facility

  • Develop scope and lead small capital projects

  • Act as user representative for large capital projects

  • Perform process monitoring - routine alarm reviews / reports

  • Responsible for troubleshooting issues and alarms

  • Engaged on communication to customers for system issues

  • Technical leader and mentor to other engineers and technicians

  • Responsible for the evaluation of all activities that have the potential to impact the qualified state for their system(s).

  • Responsible for all CAPA and observation/deviation investigations and originations (e.g. root cause analysis).

  • Change Control owner for applicable systems.

  • Participates in Process Team.

  • HVAC, Utility, and Facility SME for audits.

  • Responsible for periodic reviews of systems and procedures.

  • Lead or participate in commissioning and qualification activities

  • Responsible for equipment reliability issues & maintenance strategy with the objective of improvement.

  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects, etc.) associated with equipment & processes within the area.

  • Participate/Provide oversight in ensuring scheduled shutdowns are planned and executed effectively.

  • Responsible for oversight of contractor related activities in plant and third-party management of contracted services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Technical understanding of HVAC and Utilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong computer skills in a variety of software packages (SAP, Excel, JMP, etc.).

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.

Additional Preferences:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of experience or 10+ years of applicable experience in lieu of degree.

  • Previous experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • Strong working knowledge of BAS/EMS systems
