Technical Lead, Software Engineering

Compensation: $140,000 - $170,000 per year. You are eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings; terms and conditions apply.

Technical Lead, Software Engineering – Remote PST

We are seeking a Technical Lead, Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in a mission-critical scrum team, working on a Java/Spring full-stack application built on AWS infrastructure in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive development efforts, mentor engineers, and lead new systems which are reliable and high-performance that supports our strategic goals in precision genomics and clinical reporting. 

 Essential Functions

• Architect, develop, and enhance Java/Spring-based applications to support scientific workflows for variant identification, ranking, and reporting. 
•  Work closely with business systems analysts (BSAs) and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into well-defined technical solutions. 
• Lead design and development of scalable and maintainable solutions while ensuring system performance and security best practice.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, resolve bugs efficiently, and improve system reliability. 
• Advocate for best practices in software engineering, code quality, and automated testing. 
• Provide clear, accurate technical insights to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience  
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack application development. 
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead by example and mentor engineers. 
• Strong expertise in cloud-based solutions and experience integrating third-party software into existing systems. 
• Extensive experience in building service-oriented architectures and designing RESTful API services to support scalable and maintainable applications. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently. 
• Effective communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
• Experience and familiarity working in Java / Spring and or PHP/ Symfony
•  Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elastic Search etc.). 

Preferred

• Master's degree  
• Experience in scientific, genomics, or healthcare-related applications is a plus. 
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS
