We are seeking a Senior Conference Services Manager who is passionate about elevating client experiences while leading and mentoring a high-performing team within a family-oriented resort culture.
About the Role
The Senior Conference Services Manager is the strategic and operational leader of the Conference Services department, overseeing all group events from post-contract turnover through departure. This role is responsible for elevating the client experience at every touchpoint, ensuring events are seamless, polished, and reflective of the Mission Point brand.
As the primary liaison between Sales, Food & Beverage, Operations, and external partners, you will lead cross-functional collaboration, refine service standards, and mentor a talented team focused on excellence.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, train, schedule, and mentor Conference Services Managers, Coordinators, and Interns
Foster a culture rooted in service excellence, collaboration, and professional growth
Establish departmental goals in partnership with senior leadership and hold the team accountable
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management
Lead by example with professionalism, empathy, and calm decision-making
Event Planning, Execution & Experience Elevation
Oversee end-to-end execution of meetings, conferences, weddings, and social events
Personally manage high-profile, complex, and high-revenue groups
Assign events strategically based on complexity, workload, and team strengths
Ensure accuracy and clarity of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), resumes, and event documentation
Lead and participate in pre-convention, food & beverage, cut-off, resume, and post-event meetings
Maintain a visible presence during events to support clients, anticipate needs, and resolve issues seamlessly
Continuously identify opportunities to refine processes and elevate service standards
Financial & Revenue Management
Maximize group revenue through strategic planning, food & beverage upselling, and ancillary services
Monitor room block pickup, cut-off dates, billing accuracy, and final payments
Analyze catering and conference services performance to identify opportunities and mitigate risk
Client & Partner Experience
Partner closely with clients to design customized, high-touch event experiences
Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the planning process
Lead site inspections and resort tours with confidence and warmth
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service partners
Proactively gather feedback, resolve concerns, and encourage repeat business
QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Conference Services, Catering, or Event Management within a full-service, upscale, high-volume hotel or resort environment
Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced hospitality setting
Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred
Skills & Attributes
Strong, people-first leadership style
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and time management
Clear and confident written and verbal communication
Financial acumen with experience managing event revenue and billing
Proficiency with hospitality CRM systems and Microsoft Office
Adaptable, solutions-focused, and composed under pressure
Schedule & Location
Full-time, year-round position with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs
Ability to live and work on Mackinac Island
