Description
The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking an Executive Service Line Administrator to collaborate with hospital administrative leaders and physicians to lead and integrate comprehensive clinical operational strategies for all cancer services across the health system. This includes inpatient, outpatient, and procedural cancer services, spanning across multiple clinical areas and locations. The leader is responsible for establishing priorities, evaluating progress, and positioning the cancer service line as the premier provider of cancer care within the region. This will be accomplished by prioritizing the patient experience, optimizing access, quality, and efficiency of care delivery, and seamlessly integrating research. This role will lead the vision, planning, and evaluation of service delivery, outcomes, and operational performance, working closely with the dyad partner Deputy Director for Clinical Services, HCCC Director, and other health system executives, campus leadership, and staff within the comprehensive cancer service line. The Cancer Center Service Line Leader will drive initiatives to develop comprehensive access to care, including evaluation, planning, and implementation of both inpatient and outpatient innovative care models. They will actively collaborate with clinical and operational process teams to enhance quality and efficiency across assigned departments. This role will establish key partnerships with physicians, administrative colleagues, community providers, and external groups to influence and develop relationships that promote the service line throughout the community and neighboring market areas. The leader will support and grow referrals to position the clinical cancer center as a regional and national center of excellence. This position plays a critical role in leading the strategic direction of the clinical cancer center, ensuring excellence in service delivery, enhancing quality outcomes, and building strong partnerships to support the overall mission of the health system’s cancer program.
Job Duties:
Collaboration/Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between staff, medical staff, and healthcare leadership to support the mission, vision, and goals of the cancer service line.
- Engage and collaborate with physicians to identify opportunities for program development, operational efficiency, and capital budgeting priorities.
- Develop strong partnerships with executive leadership, administrative staff, and medical faculty to align service line priorities.
- Establish a matrix relationship with administrative leaders across patient care, ambulatory services, surgical services, support services, finance, quality/safety, and regional services.
- Build and maintain relationships with community providers and influence key external stakeholders to promote growth and service line expansion.
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader, promoting a positive image of the cancer service line throughout the health system and broader community.
Program and Patient Care/Services Delivery:
- Lead the implementation of key tactics to support business planning, including pro-forma development, strategic planning, and successful execution of cancer service programs.
- Partner with leadership and key departments to ensure alignment with practice standards, recruitment, budgets, and other key initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Represent the cancer service line across the health system, coordinating activities with stakeholders such as Marketing and Communications, IT, Finance, and Planning.
