Pre-K Special Education Teacher – ACES Perry Hill NEST Program (Shelton, CT)
ACES is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our ACES Perry Hill NEST (Nurturing Early Support and Transitions) program—an ABA-intensive preschool initiative located at Perry Hill School in Shelton, CT. This innovative program is a collaboration between ACES and the Shelton School District, designed to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners.
- Participation in the Connecticut Teacher Retirement System
- Co-led classroom model with a Certified Special Education Teacher and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) working in tandem to develop and implement student IEPs and science-based programming rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Emphasis on academic, social, life skills, and behavior intervention programming to promote functional independence
- Support from a transdisciplinary team including BCBA, Behavior Technicians, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists
- 186-day school year with the option for additional employment during the Extended School Year (ESY) in July at per diem pay
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate:
- Experience working with preschool students with diverse needs in the areas of life skills, academics, behavior, and social development
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative spirit to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and district liaisons
- Expertise in instructional strategies including curriculum modification, differentiated instruction, and effective classroom management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support teamwork and family engagement
- Solid understanding of assessments, IEP development, and student-centered planning
- A commitment to working in a collaborative, nurturing environment that prioritizes student growth and professional learning
Valid Connecticut Certification in Pre-K Special Education and/or other related area
