We are seeking someone interested in informing the development of AI products and experiences through design research.</span></p><p> </p><p><span>The Industry Solutions Team is a global organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. We are lucky enough to research, design & develop with customers to collaboratively innovate solutions tailored to their business needs. In the process, we help shape the future of our own platforms by partnering with our product groups to improve Microsoft product experiences. Our diverse skillsets and curious natures help us foster innovation with our customers and with each other.</span></p><p> </p><p><span>We are looking for a Senior Product Design Researcher, AI with strong human factors and design research skills to join our expanding team. In this role, you will explore, inform and influence the solutions we build with our customers, ensuring products and solutions that are human-first in their support of business outcomes. Working with with colleagues and customers, you inspire novel experiences that can be lit up with technology.</span></p><p> </p><p><span>The ideal candidate knows how to bring the relevant design research approaches into projects and drive the development of appealing, relevant and responsible products or systems. Our work on projects is often varied and ambiguous, so you will need to work creatively and flexibly within constraints.</span></p><p> </p><p><span>As well as customer teams, you will also be working directly and closely with Microsoft Data Scientists, Program Managers and Engineers. Our focus is on projects where data science is a significant part of the solution so you should feel comfortable in this space.</span></p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<p><span>As a Senior Product Design Researcher, you will have the following responsibilities:</span></p><p> </p><p><strong><span>Design Research</span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Understand and illuminate the business opportunity or problem space across different customers and industries</span></li><li><span>Initiate, design and execute varied approaches for research and data collection, and use it to drive relevant insights throughout the product development lifecycle</span></li><li><span>Explore and work with the customer landscape of users and domain experts to shape product direction and design</span></li><li><span>Inform and guide the development of end-to-end solutions, ensuring alignment to relevant principles, frameworks and heuristics</span></li><li><span>Communicate insights, illustrate opportunities and suggestions through compelling and impactful artefacts</span></li></ul><p> </p><p><strong><span>Collaboration</span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Work within technically oriented, multidisciplinary teams to drive impact</span></li><li><span>Represent design research throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation through to execution</span></li><li><span>Collaborate to shape solutions holistically, making informed trade-offs in line with context and insights, ensuring all solutions uphold our responsible AI principles</span></li><li><span>Communicate and embed research outcomes into product decisions with precision and nuance</span></li></ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<p><strong><span>Required qualifications</span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Knowledge of responsible AI principles and artificial intelligence technologies</span></li><li><span>Experience with a range of design research approaches and methodologies</span></li><li><span>Ability to drive cross-functional understanding of research findings and drive tangible outcomes within teams</span></li><li><span>High calibre of communication and storytelling skills, ability to influence human-centered approaches and choices</span></li><li><span>Proficient with relevant design tools (e.g. Figma) and iterative product design processes</span></li></ul><p><strong><span>Preferred qualifications</span></strong></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in design or human behaviour related fields (e.g. Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction, Design Research, Psychology, Anthropology) OR equivalent experience working in design research, product or service design</span></li><li><span>Industry experience of working across all product stages from discovery to release</span></li><li><span>Experience working with ambiguous scope and/or in complex settings to deliver design and product outcomes</span></li><li><span>Experience working as part of geographically distributed, diverse, and virtual teams</span></li></ul><p><span><span><span> </span></span><span> </span></span></p><p><span><span><span>Our team prides itself on embracing a growth mindset, inspiring excellence, and encouraging everyone to share their unique viewpoints and be their authentic selves.
