Junior Network Engineer

Responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization's network systems. This position is responsible for supporting the operation of advanced networks, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to ensure the stable operation of the organization's IT network infrastructure. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links, in addition to the regular duties of IT support staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of associate degree or a technical school program along with 1 year of prior related work experience OR 3 years of related experience. Experience should include: work direction, training, report writing, word processing, spreadsheets, and working with application end users and software.
- Experience with configuring and maintaining network devices such as switches and firewalls.
- Familiarity with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools
- Ability to pull and terminate and test ethernet cabling
- Demonstrated experience in managing network security measures, including knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices.
- Valid Texas driver's license with appropriate insurance coverage
Certifications required within 120 days of employment:
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
- Azure Fundamentals
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and tools (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
- Familiarity with single sign-on applications/tools
- Quality control and quality assurance techniques and procedures
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Operating computers and other technology, and a variety of software, at an expert level
- Troubleshooting very complex technology problems in a methodical and logical manner, knowing when to escalate to vendor
- Prioritizing a constantly changing workload
- Learning new skills and communicating those to others
- Effective communications, listening, verbal and written; expressing technical terms and situations to technical and non-technical customers
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
- Basic knowledge of coding/scripting (e.g., Python, Perl) a Plus
- Familiarity with access control models and network security.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
