Job Description

As part of Renesas’s Performance Computing Power Business, you will oversee the development of our next-generation ICs for low-voltage, high-current, power applications.  This is a high-profile position in which you will lead the proliferation of innovative digital power techniques across the Performance Computing Power product roadmap.

We are seeking a Sr. Design Manager to oversee the architecture, design, and verification of digital power IC’s for AI, Server, and emerging high-performance computing product spaces.  You will manage the resources and activities through the full design cycle which spans product concept through production release.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Synthesize technical goals from business goals
  • Drive team to deliver on cost, performance and time-to-market targets.
  • 360-degree management
    • Advise and report to upper management
      • Support business plans: schedule, resource allocation, development cost and product unit cost
      • Track and report project status and advise on resource needs
      • Identify opportunities for improvements in development cycle times and product quality through resource sharing, staff training, and process improvements. 
      • Advocate for corporate resources that support your products and your team
    • Support your team
      • Guide silicon process selection and IC architecture: quantify trade-offs in, and partitioning functions among, analog and digital hardware and firmware
      • Drive SoC architecture definition: quantifying trade-offs in, and partitioning functions among, analog and digital hardware and firmware
      • Contribute to digital innovation and replacement of analog power systems through mixed-signal design
      • Oversee design processes: design, verification, tape out, and validation; first-time-right, on-time release
      • Deal with problems.
      • Identify and adopt tools and methodologies for ongoing improvements in development cycle times.
      • Signoff verification coverage and spec compliance.
      • Guide skill development and career path of design staff.
    • Engage with peers and other disciplines
      • Seek and support IP and methodology sharing with other design teams
      • Advocate technology and IP needs to keep Marketing product roadmap competitive
      • Define products and schedules with Marketing, Applications, Test, Product Engineering and Program Managers
      • Support test and app’s engineering: DFT, documentation, HW design, ATE-bench-sim correlations
      • Signoff validation, characterization, and production release with Product and Applications Engineering
      • Provide design support for yield, quality, reliability, and performance issues on released products

Qualifications

  • Education: BSEE, MSEE, or related fields.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading the development of commercially successful power IC products
  • Working experience with Real-Time DSP Hardware design and microarchitecture.
  • Flexibility is required. We specify products a year ahead of first CPU silicon.  OEM and ODM definitions and schedules change dramatically from business plan to first silicon and our priorities flow directly from those engagements. 
    • You must stay continually engaged with Marketing and negotiate priorities for the optimal business outcome.
    • You must buffer the stress that mid-course changes impose on your team.
