Job Description

The QHSE Manager manages the internal QHSE support at both Project and Business levels.

He will lead a team of Q, HS, E managers and experts at Corporate and site levels.

The QHSE Manager provide QHSE service support and ensure compliance with QHSE internal, legal, clients requirements and expectations.

The Core competence of the QHSE Manager is Occupational health and Safety Management.

General responsibilities:

  • Implement the BESIX QHSE strategy in his/her BU together with BU General Management.
  • Lead implementation of BESIX 4 fundamental Safety principles (BE SAFE, Life Saving Rules, Management Safety Walk, Subcontractor engagement)
  • Ensure compliance with Company IMS (Integrated Management System) on Q, HS, and E aspects.
  • Manage QHSE regional managers and/or Project QHSE leads.
  • Ensure QHSE reporting integrity of his/her attributed BU.
  • Participate and input to prequalification and tender when required by the QHSE tender Manager.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, follow-up and reporting of the internal QHSE audit program.  
  • Guarantee that QHSE related IMs procedures reflect the current Project and Business approach of BESIX and are in line with the different QHSE Management system standards (ISO, CO2,…)
  • Develop the annual QHSE action plan for the Business Units which are attributed to the QHSE Manager
  • Constantly seek new opportunities for continuous improvement.

Specific tasks

  • Participate in the tender and prequalification kick-off meetings
  • Coordinate the Regional QHSE Managers for providing the required operational support at both Project and Business level
  • Develop, follow-up and report on the annual QHSE action plan for the concerned Business Units
  • Develop, follow-up and report on the internal QHSE audit planning.
  • Roll out QHSE core training program and communication in his/her BU.
  • Validate and report the QHSE related Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis to the Corporate QHSE Director and BU manager.
  • Undertake and support the legal compliance audits and legal update.
  • Coach, train, and motivate operational teams and QHSE staff under his sphere of control and influence. The QHSE Manager is a catalyst in QSHE culture improvements.
  • Assist in High Potential incident investigation and root cause analysis, share and implement lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Health and Safety related fields (Bachelor of Science, Master Degree or above)
  • Other degree(s) in technical or environmental fields, a plus.
  • 10-15 years’ experience minimum in Construction HSE roles. (Contractor/constructors roles)
  • Significant work exposure to the European market and International Market.
  • A natural coach, trainer IOSH certified trainer a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge on behavioral based safety a plus.
  • A team player, a person that understand and know how to connect & motivate others in multiple different operational and cultural contexts.

English written and spoken fluently Mandatory, French, Dutch a significant plus, other languages a plus.
