The Sports Dietitian Fellow assists with the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and management of the clinical nutrition services provided to student-athletes. This person will help manage daily tasks of the fueling station, handle deliveries, as well as help with all game day activities within the Olympic Sports program.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

Actively participate as a member of the University of Miami Sports Nutrition staff Sport oversight for at least one Olympic sports team - includes individual counseling, team education, travel meal guidance/ordering, supplement education, hydration testing, and body composition analysis for assigned teams; may include team travel Manage and supervise aspects of operations of Nutrition Center and assigned Fueling Stations including managing student-volunteers/interns/work study, product inventory, ordering, receiving, and distribution Examine and translate scientific research related to nutrition, athletic performance, and dietary supplements. Maintain effective communication with coaching staff, athletic trainers, strength staff and other individuals from the Athletic Department on any nutrition related matter. Serve our student-athletes with a positive, welcoming, and committed attitude. Collaborates with Nutrition Staff regarding athlete care and health related department programs. Suggests innovative oral and written nutrition education. Evaluates nutritional trends and supplement products. Maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice. Assists department with dietary plans for athletes. Analyzes dietary supplements marketed to athletes, coaches and staff. Documents nutrition services provided and evaluates the effectiveness of nutrition strategies towards meeting desired outcomes. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Perform additional tasks as assigned by department leadership

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Licensed and Registered Dietitian

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a related area
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and complete work tasks with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of sports nutrition and food service management
  • Ability to be punctual, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Canva 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Intuitivel
