Job Description

IHI Power Corp has an opportunity for a Mechanic at our Sunnyside coal mine location in Utah.

Job Summary

The Mechanic conducts routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all mobile vehicles to include trucks, front-end loaders, graders, bulldozers, forklifts, and other plant rolling stock. In addition, this position monitors the performance and general reliability of the mobile vehicles and rolling stock and is capable, without supervision, of identifying mechanical issues, performing corrective action when appropriate. The following specific job functions include the following:

Job Functions

• Safely perform all routine and corrective maintenance on all plant mobile vehicles and rolling stock.
• Maintain all logs and records as required to record complete operating and maintenance conditions for each vehicle and report any irregularities.
• Support the plant maintenance technicians in performing routine (ash, boiler and fuel system maintenance, valve packing replacement, valve replacement, pump repairs, pump overhauls, electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting) and complex (equipment alignment, boiler instrumentation replacement, continuous emissions monitoring systems, distributed control systems, turbine overhauls) maintenance work, as assigned.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
• Utilize computer-based diagnostic systems, skills, knowledge, and experience to determine what repairs need to be done and whether it's a warranty issue
• Inspect and replace vehicle tires, as needed.
• Implement a thorough preventative maintenance program for a fleet of rolling stock, including: fueling, greasing, changing oil and other fluids, and inspecting trucks for needed repairs
• Accurately record work performed in the CMMS system.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Follow proper safety rules, maintenance, and operating procedures
• Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

• High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.
• 1 to 2 years of Mechanic Experience a plus
• Experience with a variety of trucks a plus
• Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers a plus
• Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
• Must possess solid level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

• Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
• Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
• Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
• Basic data entry/computer skills
• Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
