ABOUT LUCID US

The Lucid Group is a multi-capability global healthcare services company that partners with the pharmaceutical and biotech industries to deliver pioneering solutions that change behaviour, improve clinical practice and advance health outcomes. Lucid US comprises two divisions. The larger HCP Promo division works with clients across the Rx, Medical Device, OTC and Consumer Device categories to deliver compelling communications solutions for in-market assets. The smaller US MedComms division works with both US and Global brand teams to create powerful medical communications solutions for early lifecycle assets.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for spearheading our efforts to identify, target, and convert leads in the pharmaceutical sector, with a specific focus on mid-tier pharmaceutical companies, biotechs and their decision-makers responsible for commercial budgets. You will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, building strategic relationships, and contributing to the achievement of our business goals for our HCP Promo and US MedComms divisions.

The VP of Client Business Development will:

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of Lucid’s business model, services, key points of differentiation and industry expertise.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy and plan tailored to the life sciences sector, focused on defined prime prospect targets within the mid-tier pharmaceutical companies and biotechs.
  • Identify and prioritize key decision-makers within target organizations, including leaders responsible for commercial budgets and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with pharmaceutical industry leaders, stakeholders, and potential clients through networking, industry events, and targeted outreach to develop qualified leads and new contract opportunities.
  • Understand client needs, pain points, and challenges to develop tailored solutions that showcase our agency's capabilities by articulating differentiators, benefits, advantages, and capabilities of our client value proposition.
  • Collaborate with and organize internal teams, including account, creative, strategy, media/analytics and project management, by leading on developing compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches that address client requirements.
  • Lead new business workflow from prospecting and lead generation to RFP/proposal, with a seamless handover to account leads for ongoing client management and development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, opportunities, and client interactions using CRM software or other designated systems to monitor initiative performance and optimize ROI.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts, market intelligence, and competitive analysis to senior leadership.
  • Continually research and assess potential new services or offerings that can generate revenue for the agency.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in business development, sales, or strategic account management within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, and converting leads within a well developed network of mid-tier pharmaceutical companies and biotechs, with a focus on accessing decision-makers at the C-suite and commercial budget level.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry landscape, market trends, and regulatory environment.
  • Deep knowledge of medical communications, scientific content creation, and the needs of the healthcare sector.
  • A well-established network of contacts within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industries, especially within mid-tier companies.
  • Strong connections with decision-makers at pharmaceutical and biotech companies, including C-suite, Medical Affairs, Procurement, and R&D.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, combined with follow through and a drive to close.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience at managing a new business pipeline, identifying and mitigating business risks and regularly reporting progress.
