Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), Field Technicians are vital to delivering safety and security solutions in the field. You’ll install, service, and maintain CCTV systems to meet client needs and ensure reliable performance. With your technical expertise and field experience, you help protect what matters most—while supporting UDHG’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, Service & Repair
    • Install, service, and adjust commercial man doors and frames in compliance with building codes
    • Apply and install door hardware including locks, closers, and exit devices
    • Repair or replace damaged wood and hollow metal doors and frames sing proper tools and equipment
    • Perform on-site welding and hardware modifications for hollow metal doors and frames
    • Work independently to high-quality standards in both occupied buildings and active construction sites

     

  • Technical Knowledge & Documentation
    • Be familiar with specifications, shop drawings, hardware schedules, blueprints and schematic diagrams in order to determine appropriate methods of installing or repairing doors and hardware
    • Complete required daily paperwork, such as time sheets, daily reports, work orders 

     

  • Communication
    • Communicate effectively with our customers and PM Team

     

  • Safety  
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
    • Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment
    • Use proper lifting techniques
    • Adhere to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment safety shoes and clothing

     

  • Physical Requirements
    • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation 
    • Frequent driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment for multiple hours a day
    • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying building materials weighing approximately 100 pounds, using proper lifting procedures; and occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying greater weights.  Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces.  Some functions may be performed as a team
    • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent technical or vocational training is a plus
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience as in door and hardware installation, maintenance, or repair preferred
    • Strong knowledge of Hollow Metal Doors & Frames, Architectural Wood Doors and Frames, and Finish Hardware products and systems
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Effective communication and customer service skills
    • Knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines
    • OSHA Certification Preferred
    • Must possess valid driver’s license with good driving record
    • Must be willing to travel within territory as needed
