Full-Time Day Shift (6:30am-3:00pm) With Weekend and Holiday Rotation
Summary:
Perform and report laboratory tests within established guidelines and, under the direction of the Blood Bank Technical Director and site manager, assist with the quality assurance activities of the department, ensure staff compliance with all departmental, company, and regulatory policies and procedures, oversee BTS training, special projects, resolution of instrument or specimen problems, and ensure adherence to technical procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Perform routine technical work as assigned by the Technical Manager. A guideline is that at least 60% of the work performed should be in routine Blood Bank testing.
• Performs all aspects of laboratory testing, quality control and maintenance in an accurate and efficient manner following established policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and coaching for department members for any questions or problems that arise with Blood Bank testing. Follow any problems through to completion and communicate with appropriate managers and next shift if appropriate.
• Responsible for BTS training for new department members, and when new instruments or procedures are introduced.
• Responsible for QC review, Maintenance review, Antibody Panel review, CAP inspection preparation, and competency assessment, including providing additional training if the need is identified.
• Perform any specialized studies, reagent coordination, instrument calibration, or any other duties assigned by the Technical Director.
• Address client questions and problems in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories by performing other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT/MT).
• A minimum of 5 year of Blood Bank testing experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
• Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
Safety and Physical Demands:
• Work with biohazardous substances and hazardous chemicals.
• Adhere to all company safety, health, ergonomic, and PPE policies.
• Complete required safety training and health evaluations promptly.
• Identify and respond to safety hazards; promote safety awareness.
• Maintain visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity for extended computer use.
• Sit or stand at workstations for prolonged periods.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Maintain focus and attention to detail over extended periods.
• Perform tests with integrity and ensure accurate reporting of results.
• Handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
