Job Description

The Talent Acceleration development team is looking to add a software engineer or senior software engineer to their team as they continue to engineer world class talent systems here at Shopify. Software engineers at Shopify are passionate about solving tough problems. In this role you can expect to experiment, iterate, and ship new code many times a day. Shopify is the largest Ruby on Rails application in the world and we're a big part of the Rails community, so you can expect to see it leveraged with the Talent Acceleration team, along alongside various modern enterprise production scale technologies like Kafka, React, Rest APIs, MySQL, K8s, etc. 

As a software engineer at Shopify you can expect to:

• Collaborate with other engineers, data scientists, designers, product managers, etc. 
• Create fast, beautiful code that improves our code base in meaningful ways
• Use test-driven development to write well-tested code
• Fix bugs fast while taking your time to solve hard problems well
• Build and maintain Shopify’s critical infrastructure through software and systems engineering

Qualifications

• Successful software engineering candidates typically bring at least 3-4+ years of professional software development experience, with senior candidates bringing 5-7+; both of which are passionate about elevating their craft and the team around them.
• default to taking ownership of up and down stream inputs, and driving toward successful outcomes for the immediate team as well as collaborating cross functional teams.
• Have the ability to push through ambiguity, work through roadblocks, and thrive on changes, finding ways to leverage their experience and subject matter experts around them to ship quality work. 
• Bring strong coding skills, and experience using technologies and frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Rest/GraphQL, Python, React, Rust or React Native, Kubernetes, GCP, etc. Don’t have experience with many of these? No problem — deep experience with any object-oriented language and willingness to learn our tech stack goes a long way.
• Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things; Shopify changes fast, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too.
• Bonus: You’re co-founder minded - never shying away from a challenge, take pride in your work and have a habit of writing about and sharing your work with others.
