Overview
The Espiña Research Group is dedicated to overcoming some of the most challenging issues in the water environment, responsibly using original applied research on environmental nanotechnologies.
We are looking for an Engineer to join our team under the project Alchemissts.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
- Responsible for the daily management, operation and maintenance of a high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS);
- Train other users for equipment operation at basic level;
- Perform the analysis of water and food samples by ultra or high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), and other detectors (i.e., UVvis and fluorescence) for organic contaminants and biotoxins detection and quantification;
- Sample preparation (i.e., clean-up and preconcentration) using solid phase (micro) extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, etc.;
- Develop and implement new methods and protocols for sample preparation and analysis with the techniques explained above;
- Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control measures are implemented when relevant;
- Produce technical and scientific documentation for work planning and project reporting;
- Participate in the writing of research articles to be published in high impact journals in the environmental sciences area.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food or Environmental Sciences, or similar fields.
Experience and Technical Skills
- Experience in analysis of water and food samples by ultra or high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS);
- Experience in sample preparation (i.e., clean-up and preconcentration) using solid phase (micro) extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, etc.;
- Experience in development and implementation of new methods and protocols for sample preparation and analysis with the techniques explained above;
- Experience in the other analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., HP
