We are looking for a Threat Intelligence Team member that will support the foundational teams (People, Finance, Legal, IT). To be successful, we need someone who can quickly digest new concepts, business requirements, and associated risks and can collaborate with their partner teams and with the security team to identify what risks we should accept, which we should mitigate, how, and why. This means broad security knowledge, an ability to gain technical depth quickly when necessary, and the soft skills (collaboration, ability to communicate security risks to non-engineers) and leadership required to effectively collaborate across many teams at once.
Qualifications
The Threat Intelligence and Operations Team at Block is designed as a pre-breach/preventative intelligence and vulnerability research resource for Block. Through the discovery of key intelligence requirements across the ecosystem, the Threat Intel team can deliver highly specialized information to all identified stakeholders. Additionally the team will support the vendor security review process and the security vulnerability management process through careful data risk analysis, security reviews, targeted research, reverse engineering and malware analysis.
You will:
- Work directly with foundational teams to audit Block’s SaaS / IaaS / PaaS business systems
- Perform vendor risk assessment for third-party solutions that address security threats
- Collaborate on security policies, requirements, and guidelines to address Workforce security risk
- Communicate, document, prioritize, and drive security remediation to completion
- Influence secure designs and roadmaps for effective risk management
- Help mature the Vendor Security review process with a strong emphasis on automation
- Work with key stakeholder teams to share Workforce related trends to ensure continuity across multiple workstreams
- Work with a dynamic, fast-paced, and geographically-distributed team of experts
You should have:
- Strong knowledge of risk countermeasures and compensating controls
- Knowledge of vendor security review processes, procedures and relevant tools
- Facility with empathetic interpersonal interactions via video conference
- A thoughtful approach to technical analysis and ability to quickly assess new platforms
- Five years of demonstrated security & risk management experience working in a technology-focused company

Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $174,900 - USD $213,700
Zone C: USD $165,700 - USD $202,500
Zone D: USD $156,400 - USD $191,200
