Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a dynamic, strategic Senior Public Affairs Officer to be at the forefront of our advocacy efforts. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate and champion all insurance-related regulatory and legislative issues that influence our operations across the region.
Your Mission: As a vital member of our public affairs team, you will serve as the voice of Liberty Mutual in state and local legislatures and insurance departments, ensuring our positions resonate with policymakers and the communities we serve. Your expertise in insurance and unwavering commitment to public policy will empower you to influence legislation and regulations to drive positive change for our company and our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Charge: Engage in direct advocacy and coalition-building, effectively communicating Liberty Mutual’s stance on a wide array of complex and pressing issues to state and local legislative bodies, executive offices, and regulatory agencies.
- Shape Public Policy: Collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to craft strategic policy positions that respond to emerging legislative and regulatory proposals. Your insights will be critical in guiding our approach.
- Strategize for Success: Design and implement political strategies tailored to navigate the evolving landscape, ensuring Liberty Mutual remains a strong and proactive presence in state affairs.
- Fundraising Maestro: Develop and execute innovative political fundraising initiatives, from organizing impactful events to fostering valuable connections, all aimed at bolstering our advocacy efforts.
- Build Bridges: Forge and nurture relationships with public officials and their staff, maintaining open channels of communication that enhance our influence and reach.
- Grassroots Mobilization: Collaborate with the Public Affairs Director to develop grassroots lobbying strategies that galvanize support at the community level, amplifying our voice across the region.
- Collaborate and Conquer: Work hand-in-hand with insurance trade associations, external lobbyists, and industry leaders to present a united front on key issues and enhance our legislative and regulatory agenda.
- Monitor the Pulse: Stay ahead of legislative trends, identifying opportunities and challenges that may impact our business. Take initiative on regulatory and legislative assignments as directed by your supervisor.
What You Bring to the Table:
- A robust understanding of the insurance industry, coupled with a keen awareness of regulatory and legislative processes.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences with clarity and confidence.
- Proven experience in political fundraising and grassroots advocacy, with a track record of successful initiatives.
- An extensive network within the insurance landscape and among public officials.
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset, ready to tackle challenges head-on and make a lasting impact.

Qualifications
- Position requires minimum of bachelor`s degree, preferably in areas such as economics, political science and business
- Candidate will have 15 years of federal or state political experience, including working in a lobbying firm, trade association, congressional or stat
