The 4100 Cardiac Telemetry/Renal Unit at Akron General houses a diverse population of patients managing complex conditions, such as Congestive Heart Failure, ESRD, cardiac arrythmia, acute coronary syndrome and other comorbidities. 

 

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM – 3:30PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.    

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN.  

• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly. 

• Demonstrate a positive, concerned, and sensitive response in the workplace. 

• Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. 

 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program OR unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

• Maintain competencies specific to patient population served 

• Satisfactorily complete hospital orientation 

 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Can perform basic clinical mathematics 

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff
