Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Consumer Insights Associate - Hybrid  will develop an in depth understanding of customer and consumer needs by conducting primary research and integrating the learning with diverse data sources to generate insight. This insight will inform sales and marketing strategy, aid the development of consumer-focused innovation, and help differentiate Cargill as a thought-leader and valued-added partner for our customers.  This position supports our product lines within the Retail Channel of Cargill Protein North America.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead primary research to illuminate insights and recommendations for product preferences, brand growth, customer growth, and innovation opportunities.
  • Synthesize marketplace and consumer trends utilizing secondary sources to supplement insight and inform strategy.
  • Conduct and communicate customer-specific research to inform customer growth and differentiate Cargill as a value-added partner.
  • Lead custom, primary research with both consumers and customers to develop innovation pipelines from idea generation through product development.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience in market research, consumer insights or related field.
  • Comfortable leading and interpreting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Travel approximately 15%.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and influence skills.
  • Ability to ‘connect the dots’ from various sources and communicate a compelling story.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in marketing research or related field or MBA.
  • Experience in a role that involved direct interaction with Sales and customers.
  • Experience in the food or retail industry.
  • Experience with innovation and new product development.
  • Comfortable designing, programming, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research utilizing agile research tools.
