8100 is a high acuity neurology and cardiac telemetry unit that admits a wide variety of patients with ranging diagnoses and is the secondary stroke unit. As PCNA, you play an integral role in ensuring patients continue receiving the best treatment possible. You will find a welcoming and hands-on environment where caregivers encourage education, mutual support and teamwork. Each day, you have numerous opportunities to make a difference in your community.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00PM – 7:30AM, with an every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirement.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare units, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer, or emergencies.
Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.
Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, and height.
Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction.
Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
Document patient care in the electronic medical record.
Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
