About the Role
As an Electromechanical Supervisory Engineer - Substations, you will be required to live within a 45-minute commute of our Northfleet substation as you will join our North Kent team made up of 17 substations and tunnels spanning Dartford, Isle of Grain and Sittingbourne to mention a few. The Electromechanical Supervisory Engineer - Substations will lead a safety, assurance and performance culture within the field teams providing a safe working environment and ensuring effective delivery of allocated projects. You’ll ensure continuous improvement in productivity and the line management of the substation staff whilst ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of the electricity transmission substation assets for maintenance activities. Flexibility will be required for national travel to fulfil training requirements, there is optional travel to operationally support the wider zones via mobility ways of working and you’ll be required to support the standby rota and emergency call out requirements across your allocated team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Undertake line management responsibilities of a team of 8-10 people across multiple locations
• Undertake Senior Authorised Person duties (400kV - safety from the system activities)
• Plan maintenance activities and resource for all NOKT site work
• Ensure routines are undertaken on a cyclical cycle as per specifications
• Embed process/performance excellence, managing performance reports and driving best practice
• Lead projects enabling successful commercial work delivery in line with times and budgets
• Provide risk assessments/method statements and ensure toolbox talks take place
• Ensure defects are recorded and work specifications signed off before returning equipment to service
• Monitor, review and progress contractor work as defined in CDM Regulations
• Provide standby ensuring emergency response readiness is in place including provision black start
• Undertake maintenance, project delivery, commissioning, fault investigation/repair and monitoring
• Monitor for a deeper investigation into root cause using high-end condition monitoring equipment
About You

Essential:
• A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK
• STEM level 4 qualification
• Extensive electrical, mechanical or control & instrumentation engineering experience gained from an industrial environment
• Experience of leading and supervising others
• Project delivery experience
Desirable:
• SAP authorisation
• Membership of IET or similar professional body
• A relevant safety qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH
• Experience of substation assets including switchgear, HV cable systems and Protection & Control
• Experience of responding to emergency situations
• Experience of budget management
• Experience of adhering to CDM regulations
