About the role

PCHC’s Warren Center for Speech and Hearing is looking to hire our first ever Audiology Assistant!  In this unique and innovative role, you’ll serve as the “hub” for all things related to audiology, providing both patient service support and technical support to the Audiology Lab. Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
(NOTE: PCHC's Warren Center for Speech & Hearing is located within the same building as Penobscot Pediatrics.)

Highlights of the position:

  • Demonstrates empathy, attention to detail, and flexibility in supporting the needs of the Audiology Lab.
  • Serves as a Patient Service Representative and performs all functions outlined in that job description, such as greeting patients, performing check-in / check-out / scheduling functions, and answering inquiries of all kinds.
  • Is a good steward of hearing technology:
    • Performs basic cleaning and troubleshooting procedures.
    • Processes and prepares hearing aid orders.
    • Organizes and manages audiology inventory, reconciling and ordering supplies as needed.

  • Provides in-booth support to patients when the Audiologist is testing children or patients who may need additional support.
  • Performs procedure setup and breakdown/cleanup of patient care areas as assigned.
  • Has an eye for process improvement. Gives and receives critical feedback on functionality and organization of the Audiology Lab.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant post-secondary education preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in a related role required. Applicants who have a closely-related Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree may substitute education in lieu of work experience.
  • Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
