Operations Quality has an opening for a Factory Quality Engineer who will interface with the factory teams supporting production, first article inspections, creating/maintaining work/inspection instructions, and preparation for audits. The position is based in Tucson, AZ and requires onsite presence. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to (see next section):
What You Will Do:
- Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
- Develop strong working relationships with the factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA
- Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics
- Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)
- Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary
- Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management
- Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs
- Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
Daily status meetings with the factory support, factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders to manage issue - Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with five (5) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality Engineering
- Experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process (assembly, inspection, test)
- Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements
- Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Past work history using engineering drawings and work instructions and/or technical documentation
- The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to the start date
- Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Existing DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders
- Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
- Experience working in a dynamic environm
