About the Role
In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will build groundbreaking systems, from the cutting edge of precision manipulation to measure devices used in the next generation of computer chip manufacturing. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design, assemble, and commission Semiconductor capital equipment, and may travel to customer locations for installation or servicing. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will help design the next generation of EUV Metrology equipment. This role offers the chance to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams from the earliest stages of product development, working alongside specialists in mechanical design, electrical engineering, vision systems, stage controls, and manufacturing engineering. This role operates in a fast-paced, hands-on setting that provides broad, multidisciplinary exposure.
Our Mechanical Engineering team drives the design and development of cutting-edge hardware solutions across the full product lifecycle — from early-stage conceptualization and process physics to final deployment — ensuring every innovation addresses real-world manufacturing needs. Backed by experienced leadership, our engineers contribute across a wide range of technical disciplines, working cross-functionally, continuously improving engineering processes, and maintaining rigorous design standards to help shape the next generation of semiconductor tools.
Reporting Line
This position reports to the Director, Mechanical Engineering.
Your Role
- Ability to work from concepts and sketches provided by Senior Staff to produce models, detailed parts, and drawings of parts for fabrication of industry leading metrology equipment.
- Work with a cross functional team including software, electrical, systems, and physicists to design full tool prototypes typical of a semiconductor foundry.
- Play a major role in the design, assembly, and installation of each new instrument, including rapid prototyping with 3D printing, mill, lathe, machine shop, and clean room tooling.
- Create bills of materials (BOMs) as needed to fully document parts and assemblies for Manufacturing keeping in mind timelines and lead times for tool build schedules.
- Coordinate procurement of parts, specify materials, tolerances, and machining methods with outside vendors while maintaining engineering excellence with drafting and BOM maintenance.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of prototypes of new instrumentation and technology for implementation into customer tools.
- Confirm system and product quality and capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods, testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- FEA including thermal modeling, vibrational analysis, and stress analysis.
