SUMMARY

This position will serve as an intern for Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s Risk, Safety, and Health division.

  • Assist with program and records maintenance. 

  • A strong emphasis on data collection and analysis. 

  • Auditing and assisting with training modules and programs.

  • Assist with updating the programs are over 30 safety and health plans to maintain compliance.

  • Provides support for the internal Safety and Health committee by assisting with the incident collection and preparing the monthly slide pack for review.  This may range from 50 – 100 records analyzed and tracked monthly.

  • Assist with auditing and safety and health work order generation and tracking.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Attention to detail and ability to think critically and independently strongly desired.

  • General interest in Risk, Safety and Health

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Ability to learn Airport processes and ask appropriate questions.

  • Enthusiasm and willingness to participate and work well in a team environment.

  • Position must be able to maintain airport security clearance.


Minimum Qualifications


Current enrollment in an accredited college or university leading towards a bachelor's degree with major course work in a related field of study specific to the departmental and/or work assignment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
