The Director, Medical Affairs plays a key role in the Medical Affairs team, serving as the non-promotional scientific conduit between the company and healthcare communities through the lifecycle of our covered opioid antidote portfolio. 

The Director, Medical Affairs is a scientific expert who engages with key opinion leaders to support external engagement with alignment to overall strategy and is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with external advisors, organizations, institutions, and associated team members. IN addition, the Director aligns internally with cross functional teams in Medical, Commercial, and Government Affairs in support of Opioid Antagonists. 

The Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for ensuring that our communities are provided with high-quality, evidence-based scientific information for our commercial products. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•    Provide high-quality scientific expertise relating to our medicines and therapeutic interests in ultimate support of the patient. Facilitates data generation, education, and scientific insights-gathering activities at the direction of Medical Affairs leadership. 
•    Respond to unsolicited medical information requests from health care providers and supports commercial colleagues through internal scientific training and external customer scientific interactions.  
•    Develop long-term & valued relationships with key stakeholders as they relate to the key strategic imperatives with key internal stakeholders
•    Foster and identification of key opportunities for scientific growth and medical evidence generation for the support of current approved products with a focus on Real World Evidence
•    Identify thought leaders, professional groups, organizations, decision-makers and other key stakeholders in the assigned therapeutic area and geography
•    Engage in scientific exchange with identified key stakeholders
•    Share and discuss evidence-based scientific data with stakeholders in accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements and company guidance
•    Capture and report scientific insights obtained via appropriate scientific interactions with customers and other external sources
•    Respond to unsolicited questions regarding Emergent products, and document these requests and responses appropriately
•    Facilitate education and training on disease state, product, and competitor products to internal stakeholders and external customers as appropriate
•    Facilitate company-sponsored research initiatives at the direction of Medical Affairs leadership
•    Lead and carry forward departmental projects at the direction of Medical Affairs leadership 
•    Represent Medical Affairs at scientific meetings and conventions as directed by Medical Affairs leadership
•    Contribute to the development of scientific materials for the Medical Affairs field team
•    Work with Medical Affairs leadership to develop and execute the field team strategic plan
•    Work cross-functionally with internal teams and departments to provide scientific support as needed
•    Ensure and maintain compliance with all company policies, laws, industry, and regulatory requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
•    Advanced scientific or clinical/medical degree required (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD),accompanied by over five years’ experience in medical affairs. MD preferred.
•    3-7 years MSL experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
•    Experience working in a clinical or scientific role within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical research industries
•    Robust experience in KOL management activities/CRM Tool utilization
•    Strong scientific knowledge as well as excellent presentation and teaching skills. 
•    Working understanding of pharmaceutical industry compliance, PhRMA code, FDA guidance on advertising and promotion of prescription drug and medical devices
•    Experience with managed markets and delivery of presentations to payer groups
