About the role

Department

BSD MED - Gastroenterology - Abadie Research Staff

About the Department

We are a multidisciplinary team whose focus is to better understand how mucosal immune responses are dysregulated in the context of intestinal inflammatory disorders. We are particularly interested in characterizing adaptive immune responses that are deregulated in patients with celiac Disease. To get a better understanding of the role played by B and T lymphocytes in the context of Celiac Disease, we combine mouse and human studies to characterize those cells in health and disease and assess their function.

Job Summary

The Section of Gastroenterology is looking for a Research Technician interested in the field of mucosal immunology and Celiac Disease to work with the group of Dr. Abadie. Her group is working on a NIH-funded projects aimed at deciphering the role of B lymphocytes in the context of celiac disease. These projects entail working with several complex mouse models that require high level skills in mouse colony handling, genotyping and organization, as well as processing samples obtained from celiac disease patients. The candidate will be in charge of independently managing mouse colony breeding and genotyping. In addition, the candidate should have skills in molecular biology to perform the preparation of libraries for RNA-sequencing and in cellular immunology to perform and assist with immunology experiments that involve cell isolation, cytokine-based assays, and flow cytometry. Finally, the candidate will participate in laboratory meetings regarding current research and other lab activities and will assist with organizing laboratory and ordering supplies.
