The Director of Finance – BBH Funds Complex is an executive, Managing Director level position responsible for leading the accounting, financial reporting/analysis and tax reporting functions for all Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (“BBH”) funds, which includes the BBH private equity fund franchise, the BBH Wealth Strategies fund platform, the BBH US mutual funds, Luxembourg UCITS funds and several other BBH sponsored fund products (the “Funds”). In the aggregate, the Funds represent approximately $40 billion of assets under management in a rapidly growing part of BBH encompassing over 100 legal entities at present. This individual is a senior member of the BBH Private Bank and Investment Management (“PBIM”) management team, leading the Funds Finance Pillar and reporting into the head of the BBH Fund Complex, and is a key decision maker for all matters that are Fund related. The individual is the Primary Financial Officer of BBH Trust (BBH US mutual funds) and is responsible for all reporting into the SEC. The individual has high-level relationships with product/portfolio managers, senior members of BBH Investor Services as primary service provider to the Funds, the BBH corporate Controller, Compliance, Risk, OGC; external relationships with several audit firms, outsourced service providers, independent trustees and directors and other parties in the asset management industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage an experienced and diverse team of 12 accounting and operations team members; responsible for their professional development, staff goal setting and execution of job responsibilities
- Manage the oversight of the day-to-day activities of the BBH Investor Services Fund Accounting and Fund Administration groups that support the Funds
- Oversee the financial statement audits of 100+ entities with several accounting firms
- Oversee all aspects of fund financial reporting, including periodic financial statements and investor statements relating to the Funds
- Oversee the production of financial and tax reporting materials for various internal and external Board meetings and make presentations to such boards and committees of those Boards
- Oversee the financial reporting for the BBH registered investment adviser
- Create policies and procedures for compliance with SEC, CSSF and ERISA Rules and Regulations
- Manage the structuring of new funds and new fund products, especially relating to the taxation of various investor types
- Oversee the accounting and financial reporting requirements of new and liquidating funds
- Report on financial metrics for the Funds and other ad hoc financial analysis
- Supervise staff responsible for overseeing outsourced service providers for the Funds
- Oversee the expense accrual and payment processes for the Funds
- Ensure that departmental procedures related to accounting, reporting and service provider oversight functions related to the Funds are properly maintained
- Report to: Principal, Head of the Funds Complex
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, accounting major, 15+ years of relevant asset management fund experience, preferably with both private funds and US registered mutual funds; partner level experience with a public accounting firm is a plus
- Ability to move the Fund business at BBH forward, be an agent of change and a difference maker the firm and its clients
- Specialist in accounting and financial reporting for various fund structures; ability to manage people, relationships, situations; ability to multitask; ability to create and make presentations to high level executives
