JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Extension in Mercer County is seeking applicants for a part-time technical service 4-H Summer Assistant to support the Mercer 4-H Park during 4-H Events, Programs, and Animal Shows.
Job duties to include:
- Maintain barns, outbuildings, fencing, walkways within the Mercer 4-H Park area to keep a clean, repaired, and presentable condition; operate hand and power tools such as weed eaters, saws, drills, etc.
- Prep the horse arena for shows including operating a tractor to drag the arena surface.
- Set up and move bleachers, livestock pens and gates and the auction block as needed during Roundup and when the park is rented for similar use.
- Prepare surfaces for painting; perform fence, gate, equipment and facility maintenance painting.
- Power wash buildings, trim fence rows, pick up trash, and remove fallen trees as needed.
- Repair and maintain the playground.
- Clean and maintain the restrooms.
- Operate and perform minor maintenance/repairs to vehicles and equipment such as tractors, mowers, and horse ring drag. Report needed repairs to supervisor.
Schedule:
- Applicant must also be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- The anticipated hours per week is 20 hours.
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $15.00/hour.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
